Project Description
The third formal publication was a biography about a powerful woman, May Gutteridge, who changed the attitudes of governments, professionals and the public with respect to the Downtown Eastside in Vancouver.
Former Premier of the Province of BC, Mike Harcourt, remarked, “May was a formidable woman – not the kind of person you would say no to. And why would you? Because her cause was so eminently worthwhile.”
Douglas Todd, journalist for the Vancouver Sun commented, “The impressive story of the tough British Woman who was among the first to go the extra mile for the poor of the Downtown Eastside….”
